§ 10-42. Definitions.

  • Emergency alarm means the notification caused by emergency alarm system activation to indicate an emergency requiring the services of the county emergency services department.

    Emergency alarm system means any electrical device, mechanical device, signaling device, or combinations of any such devices, that emits, transmits or retransmits a signal intended to summon, or that would reasonably be expected to summon county emergency services personnel or their designees. Such device may operate by notifying a third party who in turn contacts the county emergency services department. "Emergency alarm system" does not include an alarm designed to alert only the inhabitants of a premises nor does it include an alarm the primary purpose of which is to summon law enforcement personnel.

    False alarm means the activation of any emergency alarm system, caused by the negligence or intentional misuse of the system by the owner or the owner's employees, servants agents or relatives or any other activation not caused by a stimulus characteristic of fire or other emergency.

    Owner means any person who owns the premises in which an alarm system is installed or, if the premises are leased or rented, then an "owner" is the person who leases or rents the premises.

    Person means a natural person, individual, corporation, partnership, association, organization or the like.
