Article I. IN GENERAL |
§ 14-9. Handbill distribution on private property.
(a)
Defined. For purposes of this section, the term handbill shall be defined as follows:
Handbill means any handbill, circular, notice, booklet, card, pamphlet or other printed or written paper or any sample product, any portion of which advertises any commodity, food, article, merchandise, business, attraction, entertainment, meeting, person or thing except handbills or materials delivered by U.S. mail or in newspapers:
(b)
Prohibitions.
(1)
It is unlawful for any individual to deliver, distribute or place, or attempt to deliver, distribute or place, handbills on private property upon which is posted a reasonably conspicuous sign reading "no handbills" or "no solicitation".
(2)
It is unlawful for any business advertising by means of handbills to direct, encourage or allow any individual, employee or independent contractor distributing handbills on behalf of the business to deliver, distribute or place handbills on private property upon which is posted a reasonably conspicuous sign reading "no handbills" or no solicitation".
(c)
Violations. Any violation shall be punished as provided in section 1-6 of this Code.
