§ 5-121. Permits required, exceptions; permits for service calls not required.

  • (a)

    A permit will be required to do any electrical construction of any character, install any electrical wiring, apparatus or equipment, or make any extensions or changes to existing systems of wiring for light, heat or power, within the county with the following exceptions:

    (1)

    Work done by employees of the power company, as permitted by this division.

    (2)

    The repairing of damaged apparatus or equipment and the ordinary work necessary for the proper maintenance of same.

    (3)

    Nonresidential farm buildings and structures used exclusively for agricultural purposes when the construction or alteration value of the structure does not exceed ten thousand dollars ($10,000.00); however, an electrical permit is required for all new, additional or replaced meter connections or services irregardless of construction value.

    (b)

    No permits will be required on service calls involving no wiring or installation of equipment or fixtures, by an electrical contractor and/or his certified journeyman serving in the name of a certified electrical contractor.
