§ 5-153. Overhead outdoor wiring.
All wood poles or posts used for the support of overhead wiring and light fixtures shall be a weather treated type with a minimum cross sectional area of twenty (20) square inches at the top. Poles or posts shall be set a minimum of five (5) feet into solid ground and adequately supported to withstand the loads placed on it. Metal poles shall be engineered for the intended use. An approved engineering design will be required. Electric fixtures and equipment shall not be supported by trees or other vegetation. Notwithstanding the provisions of the National Electrical Code, for temporary installations of not more than sixty (60) days, outdoor lighting fixtures and associated equipment may be permitted to be supported by trees, provided that such installations do not violate any of the provisions of the Technical Codes.
