§ 5-186. Certificate of competency required.

  • (a)

    Persons desiring to work as a contractor in the construction industry in the county, in any capacity, shall not only be certified or registered, whichever is applicable under the requirements of the construction industry licensing board or the state department of professional regulation, but shall also obtain a certificate of competency as required by the county unless certified pursuant to F.S. ch. 489.

    (b)

    Unless an Osceola County building permit is posted on the job site, in accordance with the Florida Building Code, and the state license number is permanently affixed to the vehicle, out of which the contractor is working, and said vehicle is present at the work site, all qualifying contractors must, at all times, while performing work in Osceola County, have either their county certificate of competency card or their state certification card on their person.

    (c)

    The types of contractors listed below are unable to qualify for a county certificate of competency card or state certification and must obtain additional identification, such as a rearview mirror hangtag, decal or sticker, to affix to all vehicle(s) out of which the individual or entity operates its business. Said additional identification may be obtained from the county and shall be in a form determined by the county to be the most effective. Failure to have the additional identification appropriately affixed to all vehicles in operation may result in the issuance of a citation in accordance with chapter 7, of the Osceola County Code of Ordinances.
