§ 7-9. Special master.

  • (a)

    A special master position is hereby established for the purpose of providing an alternative code enforcement system to include, but shall not be limited to, the holding of hearings, imposition of fines, fees and costs upon county ordinance violators. A schedule of fees and costs which may be imposed by the special master shall be adopted, and from time to time amended, by Resolution of the Osceola County Board of County Commissioners.

    (b)

    The selection of a qualified individual to provide special master services is exempt from the competitive solicitation process as a legal service. As such, the county attorney shall recommend, to the board of county commissioners, the appropriate individual, who has been a member of the Florida Bar, in good standing, for a minimum of five (5) years, for the position of special master.
